Scott Southard

With over 15 years of experience, Scott Southard has assisted on numerous research projects in multiple roles; most often, qualitative researcher, communications, and editor. In his current role, he assists in many qualitative research roles, including interviews, survey creation, recruitment and outreach, and tracking responses.

As Communications Associate, he writes and posts much of PPA’s outreach to the public for social media, eNews, website updates, and news articles. Currently, PPA can be found on six different social media platforms, and on each Southard highlights the positive impact PPA is having both statewide and nationally, upcoming events, and important press releases and announcements.

Prior to his recent role at Public Policy Associates, Southard worked as a senior technical writer for the Michigan Health Information Network, where he wrote, reviewed, and/or edited materials shared externally by the organization. In addition, he assisted with their marketing outreach and planning. He is an expert in Microsoft Office products, including Word and PowerPoint; as well as Adobe.

Southard brings a high level of professional quality to his work, making sure that the products he reviews or works on adhere to the high standards that the clients of Public Policy Associates expect.

Education

Southard earned a bachelor of arts in English from Aquinas College and a master of fine arts in professional writing from the University of Southern California. He is currently working towards his certification in evaluation at Michigan State University (expected certification in 2026).

Also Notable

Southard is a seven-time published novelist and former book reviewer for WKAR public radio. He enjoys working on projects that will make a positive difference for Michigan and using his skills to help tell the story of change-making.
