A happy father and child

We really enjoy connecting with people to discuss strategic solutions to challenging issues. Although we cannot get together in person right now, virtual events keep the ideas and collaboration flowing.

This month, PPA staff Dr. Nancy McCrohan, Anna Colby, and Nathalie Winans conducted a webinar with Feeding America West Michigan as part of a larger effort to address social determinants of health in the Upper Peninsula (UP) using a Food is Medicine approach. Despite a foundation of experience, in spring 2020, there were no operating food-related community-clinical linkages or pilots of food insecurity interventions in a health care setting in the UP. The webinar was an important step in building a network of providers around this critical issue.

In addition, Colleen Graber and David McConnell presented at the Michigan Vibrant Communities Conference with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority to unveil the Authority’s new mission, vision, guiding principles, and focus areas, along with plans to develop Michigan’s first statewide housing plan. You can stay up to date about the progress of this planning effort at MSHDA’s website.
