Homelessness remains a crisis across the country, with too many people experiencing homelessness. The exact number of people without homes fluctuates day-to-day and year-to-year. In Pasadena, California, the most recent point-in-time count found 512 people unhoused over one night.
With the goal of making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring, the City of Pasadena Department of Housing has engaged CityWise and Public Policy Associates (PPA) to lead a community-planning process that will result in the development of a Homelessness Plan. The plan will set the direction for the Pasadena Continuum of Care (CoC), led by the City of Pasadena Department of Housing and made up of more than 50 public and private agencies that provide supportive services and resources to people experiencing homelessness in Pasadena.
PPA is leading the process of engaging:
- Regional partners, by conducting interviews including with the other three CoC’s in Los Angeles County.
- Cross-sector partners, by conducting interviews including with homeless liaisons within education, health care, and the justice system within Pasadena.
- People with lived experience of homelessness, by conducting eight focus groups including with people that are veterans, transitional-aged youth, chronically homeless, and domestic violence survivors.
