Anna Colby, a senior research associate at Public Policy Associates, was a speaker at the Price Women and Allies Founder’s Panel on March 11, 2021. The panel celebrated the ten-year anniversary of the Price Women and Allies (PWA) student organization of the University of Southern California (USC). Ms. Colby was one of the co-founders of the organization when a graduate student at USC’s Price School for Public Policy.
PWA provides support for women, trans, gender non-conforming, and gender non-binary people to advance their careers in public service. The group aims to “close the gender gap” and provides members networking and professional development opportunities and engages in advocacy on cross-sectoral issues. On the PWA Founder’s panel, Ms. Colby spoke about founding the organization, her career path and experience as a woman and mother in the policy field, and provided advice for current students.
Ms. Colby has extensive experience in public policy development, advocacy, research, and evaluation with an emphasis on food systems and anti-hunger policy. Her work has included research to inform the development of food programs and policies; advocacy for state and federal legislations; and evaluation of the impacts of food and nutrition programs. In her current role with PPA, Ms. Colby provides policy research, program evaluation, and consulting services to nonprofit and public sector clients.
