For nearly a year, Public Policy Associates, Inc. (PPA) has been partnering with the Council of Michigan Foundations (CMF) to facilitate the Michigan Philanthropy COVID-19 Working Group. The Working Group, an ad hoc committee of CMF, formed in spring 2020 to help Michigan’s community of philanthropy galvanize responses to the immediate and longer-term systemic challenges facing the state.
As part of this work, PPA helped develop the Building an Equitable Future Together policy framework. The policy framework focuses on three overarching domains, which include public health, education, and economic prosperity.
PPA’s Chief Executive Officer, Sam Singh, has been leading this work and had this to say: “COVID-19 has unearthed deep disparities in public health, education, and economic prosperity for many Michiganders. We’re proud to be able to support CMF and its members as they seek to address these challenges and to be able to provide support for an equitable future for Michigan.”
PPA has played a key role in support of this collaboration, identifying best practices and policies that can help all Michiganders weather the pandemic and later, in the future, ensuring equitable pathways for success for all of the state’s residents—especially Black, Indigenous, and people of color.
