PRESS RELEASE – Public Policy Associates (PPA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Anna Fischer from Project Manager to Director for Healthy Communities, effective immediately. In her new role, Fischer will lead PPA’s efforts to develop and implement policies that promote healthier, more equitable communities nationwide.
Fischer brings a wealth of experience to her new role, particularly in the realm of food policy. She has been instrumental in shaping healthy food initiatives, notably contributing to significant policy advancements in California and Michigan. Her work in this area has focused on increasing access to food options and promoting sustainable food systems. Fischer’s promotion reflects her deep expertise and proven track record addressing complex public health challenges.
At the core of PPA’s approach to healthy communities is the recognition that a wide array of social, economic, and environmental factors shapes health outcomes. Anna’s leadership will continue to prioritize PPA’s research that explores the social determinants of health and the comprehensive needs of communities, including stable housing and access to nutritious food.
In addition to her expertise in food policy, Fischer has recently led multiple projects addressing housing and homelessness. Her work has spanned the country, with a particular focus on addressing these critical issues in the Lansing area and other communities nationwide. These projects have involved developing innovative solutions and collaborating with stakeholders to improve housing stability and reduce homelessness.
Rob Fowler, PPA’s CEO, expresses enthusiasm for Fischer’s new role. “Anna’s dedication and expertise make her the ideal leader for our Healthy Communities policy area,” said Fowler. “Her understanding of how to translate research into actionable policy aligns well with PPA’s vision: Better Public Policy for a Better World. We are confident that Anna will continue to drive meaningful change and make a lasting impact on the health and vitality of our local communities.”
Ms. Fischer earned a master’s degree in public policy and geographic information science and technology from the University of Southern California. She is a member of the current class of the Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP), a nationally recognized program for policy leaders.
