This position is eligible for remote work, although Michigan residence is preferred. Occasional travel to Lansing, Michigan, may also be required.

Position Purpose

To ensure sound accounting processes and support the firm’s fiscal integrity and financial well-being.

Essential Functions

  • Project accounting, set up, and maintenance
  • Invoicing for projects (revenue) and accounts receivable
  • Financial reporting for PPA and our back-office support clients
  • Assist with month-end adjustments and closing
  • Review project budgets and produce project budget reports
  • Contribute ideas for process and reporting improvements
  • Setup accounting reporting in the Deltek system
  • Train project managers in project budget development and the use of budget reporting
  • Other accounting reports and assistance as assigned

Experience, Knowledge, Skills

Education and Experience

Degree in accounting or finance, or at least 10 years of recent work experience in accounting, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles required. Experience in a job cost environment a plus.   

Technical Skills

  • Experience with accounting software packages, preferably Deltek Vantagepoint
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, including knowledge of Word and Excel. 
  • Aptitude in navigating relational databases and designing accounting reports
  • Ability to read legal documents and contracts for requirements to support compliance
