Michigan leaders need to revamp the state’s juvenile justice system to ensure that all young people receive the same chance to overcome the mistakes of youth and reach their full potential, Public Policy Associates, Inc. President Paul Elam wrote in an article for the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange (JJIE).
Dr. Elam, who specializes in juvenile justice and has vast experience in Michigan, lays out guiding principles the state should incorporate in developing a system aligned with evidence-based research. He will be expanding on his ideas in future JJIE articles.
