In collaboration with the Feeding America national office (FANO), PPA designed and executed a program evaluation that examined Feeding America West Michigan’s (FAWM) Mobile Food Pantry Program. The program operates in 32 counties across all five regions served by FAWM. The study provided a deeper look at the client profile for the program and created a baseline for understanding changes in client demographic changes going forward. PPA captured clients’ level of food insecurity, experience with and value ascribed to program participation, ease of access, and the extent of support services utilized. The evaluation also looked at the distribution sites’ ability to meet needs of diverse clients, and the extent to which changes in fruit and vegetable consumption were attributed to the program, The evaluation included a survey of over 600 pantry clients, six online focus groups, and interviews with seven pantry site coordinators. The data and insights from this study were used by FAWM in internal and external communications and to inform potential program improvements.
