PPA conducted the 2020 Market Rate Survey (MRS) and analysis of the cost of providing high-quality child care in Michigan. PPA used multiple methods to study child care rates and the cost of quality care, including a survey and interviews with child care providers and secondary analysis using data from the Provider Cost of Quality Calculator. The survey of a pool of 7,000 providers was used to answer questions regarding the price of care, access to child care, amount charged to families, and provider participation in the child care assistance program. The survey was completed online, on paper, and by telephone. The findings report and recommendations can be read here.
