This person will provide project support in the areas of data collection (survey, interviews), data processing (scanning, cleaning data sets), and analysis (coding, table and graph construction).
PPA will provide methods training and child care policy background to the intern, and the intern is expected to deliver high-quality work as an integral part of the PPA team of researchers.
Intern candidates must have:
- Achieved at least junior status in college; graduate students are also welcome to apply.
- Successfully completed academic coursework in social studies subjects; research-methods knowledge preferred.
- The ability to work independently in a timely manner and in collaboration with team members.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Eagerness to learn and readily apply new skills to research activities.
For this paid position, the intern is expected to work an average of 16 hours per week. No benefits are available for this temporary, part-time position. This position will report to PPA’s Chief Operating Officer.
The dates of employment will be approximately October 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021. Working during college breaks is necessary to meet project obligations. Depending on PPA needs and intern interests, the internship may be extended beyond April.
Given the current pandemic, the intern may be authorized to work from home, but some time in the PPA office (with safety protocols in place) might be necessary.
PPA is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes individuals of all backgrounds to apply. We believe the different life experiences of staff add value to our work.
PPA may consider hiring two interns for this position if most applicants cannot commit to the required weekly level of effort.
To apply, submit the PPA job application, a resume, a cover letter, and a brief writing sample (preferably from a relevant course) to Virginia Orabone, Chief Financial Officer, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but interested individuals are encouraged to respond promptly.
